Activision has released Modern Warfare 2 Remastered suddenly recently, but only the single player campaign has made it to the game. But they have explained to the community why the multiplayer part is not included.
Not splitting the community
Activision doesn’t want to offer a third multiplayer mode that further divides the community. The two previous game modes already share the same player base and with a Multiplayer in the Modern Warfare 2 Remastered, it would have triggered a split in the players between different games.
Instead, Infinity Ward and Activision want to use the latest Modern Warfare to celebrate the entire series and have a unique Multiplayer experience constantly being updated with new maps and features.
In the future, more multiplayer maps from past games are going to be added. Which maps though, is unfortunately not yet known. But the developers have already shown with known maps like Rust or Crash that they are implementing the old content in a new form for Modern Warfare.
“No Russian” Mission scandal
CoD MW2 faces problems because of the controversial “No Russian” mission, especially in Russia. Sony Russia has completely refused to release Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered in the PSN store.
For PC and Xbox, on the other hand, the new edition appears to be normal.
Call of Duty has had problems in Russia in the past. The latest Campaign of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was very criticized for the way it showed Russian soldiers and met a massive rejection among Russian players, having all the brand’s channels with numerous protests about the subject.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered is available now on PS4. And will also be available on Xbox One and PC starting Thursday, April 30th 2020.
For Xbox One and PC players, not everything is lost however, as you can pre-purchase Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered today on their respective platform stores and get instant access to the Ultimate Demo Team Classic Ghost Bundle in Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone.
